Past Flatford Mill
Past Flatford Mill
Looking towards Willy Lott's house. Flatford watermill, a Grade I listed building, was built in 1733; the adjacent miller's cottage (Willie Lott's house), also Grade I listed, is presently used for accommodation for people attending courses at the Field Studies Centre at Flatford Mill. Flatford Mill was once owned by the father of John Constable (1776-1837), who is known principally for his landscape paintings of Dedham Vale, the area surrounding his home that is now known as "Constable Country".
