NJ4453 : A Very Narrow Field

A Very Narrow Field
A Very Narrow Field
This field caught our attention because it is so narrow. I hadn't really noticed it before, but the difference in crops on this strip and its neighbours was striking today. It even crosses an other minor public road half-way up the slopes, and then continues to the skyline. Looking at the second edition of the 25-inch Ordnance Survey map LinkExternal link reveals that it is one of few survivors of a strip system of fields that surrounded Newmill, and indeed most of Keith, until the early 20th century - numbered 758 and 808 on the map.
