SO1414 : Sinkhole, plugged

taken 10 years ago, near to Trefil, Blaenau Gwent, Great Britain

Sinkhole, plugged
Sinkhole, plugged
The water which gets into this sinkhole vanishes underground, no doubt descending to a vast system of caves similar to those under nearby Mynydd Llangattock and Gilwern Hill. The floor of earth and rocks here must be very porous because there had been plenty of rain in recent weeks.
