SO1314 : Sinkhole, plugged
near to Trefil, Blaenau Gwent, Great Britain

Sinkhole, plugged
This impressively deep sinkhole is one of many on this moor and probably takes much water down when it rains. It has not become blocked with earth and vegetation as is often the case so it probably has a good size pothole or vertical rift to take the water. There was no visible hole but a little standing water by the person in the middle.
Many South Wales mountain moors have huge cave systems under them. This one has yet to reveal its secrets.
