North Street
North Street
Near the Market Cross looking up one of the four main streets of the town. The colonnaded building to the right is the Market House built in 1807 to supersede the Market Cross as a meeting place. Also known as the Buttermarket the top floor was added in 1900 to provide space for an art and technical college. The building is currently host to small stalls. Beyond that is the spire of the former church of St Olave, one of the former parish churches within the city dating from the 13th century, now converted into a charity store.
