SJ4066 : City walls and an anchor

taken 16 years ago, near to Chester, Cheshire West And Chester, England

City walls and an anchor
City walls and an anchor
Immediately in front of the camera an anchor is carved into the parapet of the city wall. I have no idea of its significance or whether it has any connection with a similar anchor carved into the parapet near the Kaleyard Gate - see SJ4066 : Carving in the city walls. On the other side of the parapet the canal is some considerable distance below, and running parallel to the walls on the other side of the canal is George Street. What used to be the Delamere Street/George Street bus station is now yet another development site.
