All Souls, Langham Place
The spire of All Souls in Langham Place dominates the northern end of Regent Street. The church is the only surviving example by John Nash; it was completed in 1823 and consecrated the following year. The unusual combination of a gothic spire above a classical rotunda drew unfavourable comments at the time; one MP described it in the House of Commons as a 'deplorable and horrible object'.
