Victoria Pier from The Deep
Victoria Pier from The Deep
The photograph was taken from the footpath outside The Deep (formerly known as 'Sammy's Point') looking across to Victoria Pier. This is where the River Hull meets the River Humber estuary. The pier was built as a ferry terminal for the Hull to New Holland cross-Humber Ferry that was abandoned on the completion of the Humber Bridge in 1981. The ferry was served by a floating pontoon connected to the land that went up and down with the river tides (now removed).
