Telford's Suspension Bridge
Telford's Suspension Bridge
Until the bridge was built in 1826, this was the site of the ferry over the Menai Straits. Before the bridge, drovers would have to swim their cattle over to the mainland. The bridge carries the road 100 ft above the water and has a span of 1500 ft. It was the longest suspension bridge of its day.
