Washington Street, Somerstown
Washington Street, Somerstown
A late Georgian suburb built to the north of the city walls. It was designed to rent out for artisans and workers. Part of the suburb was to the west of St Paul's Road the rest to the east. Unfortunately, most of the latter was demolished in the 1960s. Washington Street is the most souherly of three eastern streets which are still largely intact. This looks back down towards the main road and was taken at dusk.
