It looks like everything was just abandoned and left to rot on a single day many years ago at this location. Even the digger, although seemingly poised to scoop out its next shovel of dirt, on closer inspection has been rotting away for years.
The mine has been replaced by an opencast mine that's dug a massive hole in the countryside.
