Perranzabuloe War Memorial
Such was the scale of the carnage in World War One that there was hardly a place in Great Britain left unaffected. In every town and large village there were built war memorials to commemorate the fallen of the area. Subsequently these had names added from the Second World War, although these were far fewer in number and occasionally you will see names of those who fell in more recent conflicts. Most of these memorials are rather bleak and hard looking but this is an exception. The names of the fallen are set in a semicircle in a low wall cut into the side of the churchyard with a large celtic cross at the centre. This memorial has a very peaceful feeling which the constant roar of traffic from the nearby main road cannot quite take away.
