White Horse, Hindover Hill
White Horse, Hindover Hill
First appeared in the 1920s when the tenant farmer of Frog Firle made it one night to get the locality talking. They had been a previous horse in virtually the same spot carved out in the 1860s to mark Victoria's jubilee but it had disappeared by the early 20th century. This view looks across a drainage ditch on the western bank of the Cuckmere River towards Hindover Hill. The major viewpoint is near the horses hindquarters but there is another one near its head. A permissive footpath descends the hill to the valley floor and can be made out.
