Cefn Mine was traditionally the home of a branch of the Carreg family of Plas Carreg near Aberdaron SH1628. The 1881 Census lists the names of Robert Carreg J.P 45 years, his wife Rhoda Louise (32), and daughter Rhoda Louise (9), an English governess - Elizabeth Thompson of Northumberland, and 8 domestic and farm servants.
