Carreras cat
The two enormous cats that flank the entrance to Greater London House, formerly the Carreras cigarette factory, were modelled on the Egyptian cat goddess Bast, or Bastet, whose temple at Bubastis or Per-Bast, contained the remains of 300,00 cats. She was revered as a protector and as a mother and was represented sometimes as a lion, sometimes as a domestic cat with kittens.
