Writer in the park
One of a pair of 'writer' sculptures in the new park at Renfrew Riverside by David Annand. They appear to be writing the inscription around the bench on which they are sat.
"The future is waiting to be written
all weathers we lean to the task
the sky balanced on our shoulders like the past"

Clyde View Park sculptures
Clyde View Park is the first new park to be built in the West of Scotland for many years.
Featuring fountains, paths, cycleways, play areas, picnic areas, artwork, green space and a riverside walkway, it has been designed to encourage natural wildlife, and flora and fauna. Its name was chosen following a competition for local residents.
In 2005 children from five Renfrew Primary Schools – Moorpark, Newmains, Kirklandneuk, St James and Arkleston - worked with artist Kenny Munro to design and make sculptures for the park. Kenny produced eight Pillar Sculptures each with an emblem referring to the area’s history enclosed in a stainless steel sphere. These line the path. The children produced a Pyramid Stone adorned with badges on the theme of birds, planes, boats and fish – natural and man-made voyagers of river, sea and sky.
David Annand was commissioned to create two sculpted figures and the poetry sculpture bench mounted on the raised mound.
The artworks were commissioned by Capital Shopping plc.
