Ruins of Hartwood mental hospital
Ruins of Hartwood mental hospital
The ruins of the Victorian mental hospital in Hartwood. Despite its grim appearance today, resulting from neglect and fire damage by vandals, the hospital was one of the most enlightened, pioneering industry therapy and with a thriving farm and sports club in its heyday. The building was opened in 1905 and finally shut in 1998.
