St Margaret's church in Garveston
St Margaret's church in Garveston
St Margaret's church > LinkExternal link as we see it today was built mainly during the 14th and 15th centuries. Dates of extensive restoration works and renovations can be found in the records, giving the dates as 1695, 1856, 1900 and the 1990s. Nothing much has survived these renovations and most furnishings and the stained glass in the east window > LinkExternal link date from the 19th and 20th centuries. The baptismal font > LinkExternal link has an unusual design and dates from the 15th century. Behind the tower door a slab of wood that was dated to pre-Reformation times is believed to once have been part of a lavatory.
