This image shows the houses built in South Lodge Drive in the 1930s. Note the gas street lamp on the left hand side and also the fact that there are only two cars to be seen. One is, I think, a Morris Minor. I don't know what the other one is. The other difference from the scene today is that it was taken before the street trees were planted.
