The site of a former corn mill that was demolished in 1909, but the mill lades were incorporated into a balustraded water feature in 1912-13 by Sir Robert Lorimer. See NT4935 : Galashiels Burgh Buildings.
A sluice gate has trapped some debris, including seven plastic footballs neatly lined up in a row.
