Penfras-uchaf Farm
Penfras-uchaf Farm
One meaning of Penfras-uchaf is "upper rich end/head" However, a local resident has suggested another origin for the name. In the past the land in this part of Llwydyrys formed a large holding known as Tyddyn Dafydd Benfras, Penfras being a rather cruel reference to the owner's large and ugly head. Around 1836, the holding was divided into two units: Penfras-uchaf (upper Penfras) and Penfras-isaf (=lower penfras).
