Memorial to Lord Frederick Charles Cavendish, Bolton Abbey
He was the second son of the Seventh Duke of Devonshire, born in 1836. He was a Liberal MP for Yorkshire West Riding North, and in 1882 was appointed as Chief Secretary to the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. Straight after he had taken the oath he was murdered in Phnix Park whilst walking with Thomas Burke, who had been targeted by the 'Irish National Invincibles'
