The site housed the Gothic sports club, and in the early 1950s two single sex Secondary Modern schools were built (Lakenham Boys and Lakenham Girls) (the buildings seen across the playing fields). In the late 1950s, the Hewett Secondary Technical school (for boys and girls) was built on the Hall Road side of the site (to the right of this photo). When Norfolk local government was reorganised, the three schools combined to form the Hewett comprehensive school.
