King of the Hill
King of the Hill
A sheep keeping a watchful eye on the food supplies. The contraption in the foreground is a feeder. The idea is that hay is filled in from above and the individual stalks stick together sufficiently that the hay is gradually moved to the outside as the sheep tear at it (here's one in action: SO6084 : Evening Feed, near Burwarton Park, Shropshire). Basic food hygiene in action... However, the diet on the other side of the hill is better (SN7896 : Sheep feeder).
