Pollecoff's Department Store, High Street
The Pollecoffs were one of a number of families of Eastern European Jews which established thriving businesses in the market towns of North Wales. Like those of the Wartskis (of Bangor and Llandudno) the Pollecoffs stores - there were also branches in Caernarfon and Holyhead - were renowned for their high quality goods and were the fashionable places to shop. Apart from being leading members of the North Wales Jewish community, the Pollecoffs, like the Wartskis, were prominent in the civic life of their respective towns. Today, Pollecoff's remains the leading store in Pwllheli.
