The Graving Dock and its dock gates
The Graving Dock and its dock gates
According to the early O.S. maps the roof of the Graving Dock was erected between 1882 and 1899. The dock gates can seen, which, when closed, allow the water to be pumped out thus facilitating the inspection of the narrow boats. The Shropshire Union Canal is to the right of the photo and the building beyond the narrow boat is a boatyard.
