SS7635 : Hedge laying
near to North Radworthy, Devon, Great Britain

Hedge laying
Hedge Laying (or steeping) is normally done in the winter when the sap is not rising. These hedges are normally "laid" on a 7-15 year cycle, although the practice fell into decline in recent years. It is debatable whether this is hedge laying or coppicing, since the larger stems have been cut completely.
