Site of Defiance Halt, Wearde, Saltash
Site of Defiance Halt, Wearde, Saltash
Site of the former Defiance Halt, Wearde, Saltash, which served HMS Defiance, a torpedo school for the Royal Navy, which comprised the hulks of old warships moored just off Wearde Quay in the River Lynher. The railway line is still the main line into/out of Cornwall and in the distance it curves round to the left through Saltash railway station and onto Brunel's famous Royal Albert Railway Bridge.
