Bootham Bar
Bootham Bar
Bootham Bar was built on the site of the Roman Porta Principalis Dextra, and in the medieval period it guarded the entrance to the city from the north. There is a hundred metre gap in the walls to the right of the bar where St Leonards Place was inserted in the 1830's.
