Buildings at Ynys
The building on the left is known as "The Mill", but in fact used to be a warehouse, not a mill. It is called Ty Gwyn Gamlas, which translates as "White Canal House". In days gone by, ships would moor alongside and in the adjacent stream [the canal] to be loaded/unloaded. It was also the base for a ferry across the Traeth, before the Cob at Porthmadog and the Talsarnau flood defence embankment were built.
