Post Office Stowage Van.
Post Office Stowage Van.
This vehicle is one of many similar vans which ran in Mail Trains, this particular one was based at Bristol until the withdrawal of mail by rail.
After mail had been sorted and bagged it was transferred to these vehicles, in readiness for unloading at stations where the train stopped.
This vehicle numbered 80433, once removed from operational duties, was purchased by the Gloucestershire & Warwickshire Railway, for use as a stores vehicle and is seen shortly after arriving by road transport at Toddington.
