End of Leeds-Liverpool Canal and Tobacco Warehouse
Side view of the massive Stanley Dock tobacco warehouse and the White, Tomkins and Courage grain silo at the end of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The 14-storey bonded warehouse was designed by Jessie Hartley, it covers 26 acres and allowed storage of 180,000 barrels at any one time. It opened in 1900 and used 27,000,000 bricks in its construction.
