Built 1690, with a fine view from the South Downs to the sea. HG Wells' mother was housekeeper here. It was severely damaged by fire in 1989 and only reopened in 1995 after extensive repairs. This is the main house: I think the geograph SU7717 : Uppark is of the former stable block
