The Ruins of Trumpan Church
The Church has a terrible history. In May 1578,the MacDonalds of Uist massacred the whole congregation. In retribution, the men of the Clan McLeod got revenge by annihilating the culprits in what was called the "Battle of the Spoiling of the Dyke", as the Macdonalds bodies were buried by toppling a huge dyke on top of them.
