Cop Grove
Cop Grove
Beeches at various stages of life and death. Without the protection of neighbours the more mature trees here will be vulnerable to the wind. The rootball of the fallen victim shows the chalkiness of the soil. Because of their shallow roots, beeches suffer badly from periods of drought.
