Sampford Peverell: Sampford Mill
Sampford Peverell: Sampford Mill
Now a private residence, the mill, centre, and mill cottage, left, are built into a dam wall which also serves as an access road to Sampford Barton. On the other side of the dam was a large millpond, now drained, which was fed by streams from Whitnage but also by a leat which ran all the way from Uplowman via Lowman Cross. It still runs. See the Redwoods Inn ST0115. Update 2010: I gather the original watermill actually stood between 'Sampford Mill' and 'Mill Cottage'
