The Rare White Red Kite
The Rare White Red Kite
In the tree are several red kites. The one at the top, with her wings outstretched is an unusual bird - she is a white red kite. Referred to as "Leucistic". This particular bird - tagged V8 - has come all the way from Wales.
Survival rates of this unusual colour variety are very low. This bird has a much better chance as it is being helped by the feeding station - also it is a little darker than some white kites and appears to have been accepted by the others.
