The Obelisk, Market Place, Reading
A glorified lamp-post. The plaque reads, "Erected and lighted for ever, at the expence (sic) of Edward Simeon Esqr as a mark of affection to his native town. A.D. 1804. Lancelot Austwick Esqr Mayor." This square, which is not home to the market, has recently been revamped. It looks like they cleaned the obelisk. The public toilets that were here have gone.
