Footpath at Tong Royd, Elland
The lower end of this path is the width of a cart track, presumably to give access to the large area of recent tree plantation. Hidden in the trees on the right is the entrance to a mine, which still has rails for hand carts leading in. It is insecure but not locked up because few are aware of its existence. A brick air shaft half way up the hill was demolished in 1975.
