At the entrance to Grove Technology Park
At the entrance to Grove Technology Park
During WW2 Grove airfield had the longest runway in Britain. It was a USAF supply base. During the 1950s it continued to supply aircraft stationed in Germany as part of the cold war. Although this De Havilland Venom never flew from Grove, the airfield supplied these aircraft on the "front line".
Now Grove airfield is Grove Technology Park. The owner, a keen aviator, has had this DH Venom restored and erected at the entrance to the park. Another view here SU3989 : Attack... attack...
Apart from the technology park the airfield is still mainly farmland, as seen behind.
