Shakehole-infested moorland on Beacons Way
Shakehole-infested moorland on Beacons Way
The Millstone Grit hill of Carreg Cadno forms the background. Limestone and gritstone are intimately associated in this area as sub-surface solution of limestone beds has caused the overlying gritstone beds to founder. The land found temporary use as a rabbit breeding centre - hence the pillow mounds which dot the moorland - you'll struggle to pick them out now!
