SK2483 : Tree on Hookcar Stitch

taken 10 years ago, near to Hathersage, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Tree on Hookcar Stitch
Tree on Hookcar Stitch
This lone tree stands beneath the stark outline of the edge. The stream rising at its foot forms the steep valley between North Lees Hall and Brookfield Manor.

Is the patch of green in the browned bracken due to the presence of the tree or has the wetness in the small hollow allowed the arboreal growth and kept the bracken at bay?
