Kimmeridge Bay from Washing Ledge
Kimmeridge Bay from Washing Ledge
The boulders in the foreground are from the Washing Ledge dolomite band - the rightmost boulder shows the symmetrical dolomite beds separated by a central oil-shale parting. The bed can be seen as a yellow band in the cliff, rising as it makes its way westwards around the bay. Tyneham Cap can be seen on the left peeping above the cliff, part of the Purbeck limestone ridge that stretches from Worbarrow Tout in the west to Peverel Point in the east.
