The importance of the entrance is amplified by the positioning of the post office letter box on the N side. The OS map describes Ditton Place as a School, but this may no longer be its function. The entrance plaque on the S gate post has the word "School" blacked out (quite neatly - not a vandalising act of graffiti!).
