The former quarrying village of Porth-y-Nant from the summit of Yr Eifl
The community of Welsh and Irish quarrymen and their families who lived in Porth y Nant dispersed after the closure of the quarries in the 1940s and the village became deserted. New life was given to the physical structure of the village in the final quarter of the 20thC with the refurbishment of the houses to serve as the campus of the National Welsh Language Centre.
