Small reservoir on Thackthwaite Beck
Small reservoir on Thackthwaite Beck
This pond probably dates from the early 20th century, as it was needed to provide a head of water to supply the Gilks turbine at Disher Force, a few metres downstream. The turbine provided electricity for local villages and was one of several in the area which provided power before the national grid arrived.
