St James's church - image niche
St James's church - image niche
This large image niche used to be part of the Shrine to Our Lady of Ellingham. Its original green and red paintwork, including angels at the top, can still be seen.

The chequerwork created by alternating square blocks of knapped flint square blocks of stone gives a very pleasing appearance to this church, which is typical in style of larger East Anglian churches: it has a long nave and chancel, aisles and a clerestory. The spire is made of wood and lead. The church is kept locked; a key is available at > TM0297 : Attractive thatched cottage. For more information see: LinkExternal link
