The Grave of William Barnes - Winterborne Came
William Barnes was the dialect poet of Dorset, and some say he was more representative of Dorset than even Thomas Hardy. Poet, schoolmaster and clergyman, Barnes was born in 1800 at Pentridge, and died at the rectory in Winterborne Came in 1886. His grave and memorial is in the churchyard.
