Luton Hoo
Luton Hoo was formerly a stately home but is now a private hotel with a golf course and spa complex. It has appeared as the setting for a number of films.
The original house was built by Robert Adams in 1767 for the 3rd Earl of Bute but heavily destroyed by fire. It was occupied from 1903 by Sir Julius Wernher a diamond magnate with mines in South Africa.
The parkland grounds were originally laid out by Capability Brown in the 18th century, and today part of it has been developed into a Golf course.
