Entrance to Eastern Arm, Shoreham Harbour
Entrance to Eastern Arm, Shoreham Harbour
Viewed from the southern bank of the western arm entrance near the old fort. The waterway was turned into a canal in the 19th century having previously been the old course of the Adur whose mouth at the turn of that century was near Aldrington Basin. The current entrance was first cut into the spit in the mid 18th century and again the following century. The chimney to Shoreham Power Station is on the right.
